On the pilot DAB+ ensemble broadcasting in Stockholm, Uppsala and Gävle Teracom Test, SR Metropol has been relabelled SR AlltidNyhter for a 4-month pilot of a rolling news service from public-service broadcaster Sveriges Radio.

Europe's medium and shortwave bands became a little poorer at the end of October with the loss of the broadcasts from Radio Sweden International. Their AM transmissions, which existed for 70 years or so, ceased from October 31st. Henceforth, Radio Sweden will broadcast on FM in Sweden but elsewhere will only be available on the internet. Wohnort came of age to the sounds of Radio Sweden's Saturday Show (uh oh... THAT dates me!). Radio Sweden's interval signal will have been familiar to many who didn't even listen to the station, but encountered it while tuning up or down the band. Uit I Vida Världen (Out in the wide world), written by Ralph Lundstren, is available commercially.
DAB+ test transmissions are taking place in Stockholm currently. It is unlikely that any new multiplexes would use original-flavour DAB. Wohnort recommends that if you intend to use a receiver in this country you should buy a DAB+ receiver in order to future-proof your purchase.
Transmissions of the regional ensembles have ceased. With the exception of the Stockholm experimental ensembles, the Snapshots below were taken in 2001.
